Catching the light……

My Moth orchid in the kitchen..
Another lovely day. Bit hazy at times but very warm and pleasant.
Stephen went off to umpire at a cricket match in Alcester this morning. I felt quite emotional as he had decided it will be his last match. Time to hang up his boots.
Lots of reasons as to how he came to this conclusion, not the least being his hearing, even with his aids.
Sometimes it had been difficult to hear the sound of the ball coming off the edge of the bat, which is so important if the ball is then caught by the wicket keeper or a fielder and the batsman should be out.
He missed one in the last match and never pronounced it “Out”.
But the batsman just walked off as he and the others nearby knew the ball had nicked the edge of his bat before it was caught.
I’ve done a bit more washing this morning, bunging my slippers in with it!
They’ve come out looking like new!
It was all dry on the line not long after lunch.
I now finally have quite a few bumble bees on the lavender along with some wild ones. Does me good to see them all so happily busy!
I’ve mowed the grass this afternoon.
I’m sitting at the patio table writing this being wafted with a gentle breeze now and then.
It feels quite sultry today.
Penultimate day of July.
August beckoning…..
