What a gem!

As well as birds, flowers, butterflies and all things historical or to do with natural history, I also love things like fossils and rocks - particularly those containing crystals or semi-precious stones. I was attracted to this example, which I bought about twenty five years ago, by the colours (blue being my favourite colour) and I think I was told it was blue opal. Now I may be completely wrong on this, but I'm hoping someone like Raestelle or hobbs might be able to confirm or deny this for me... or any geologists out there able to help?
