Songpan Market

After a traditional Tibetan breakfast I wandered around the city wall and entered through another gate which led into the main shopping market - I always enjoy mingling with folk going about their regular shopping. In this market there didn’t seem to be any haggling going on, maybe that’s reserved for the tourists’ enjoyment. I passed on the yak meat, live fish and chillis but headed back loaded with grapes and plums.
We’d a different driver turn up today, we’ll just call him kamikaze Liu, for a two hour drive north to Jiuzhaigou National Park. Lucked out with the view of a karsk mountain from our hotel room!
We’re in Pengfeng Village, not too far a walk from the park entrance, so packed with hotels, restaurants and parking lots and with the obligatory KFC and Starbucks. We settled for a wee place next to the hotel for dinner, took a stroll, grabbed a beer at another wee place across the river and called it a day.
