Tyrwhitt's Wharf

Although I have walked past this old building many times I did not know what it was called.
Tyrwhitt's Wharf' was built around 1823 and served as a horse tramway building and staging point for horses used on the nearby tramway. There are often jackdaws here around the old chimney and groups of Dartmoor ponies sometimes congregate outside. It's a remarkable survival from a bygone age and I think quite rare nationally.
