What visitors want to see.....
Day three of my cousin's visit was spent in Alloway and Ayr.
The Burns Birthplace Museum has a great exhibition and a nice cafe. The Cottage is well presented , having not been interfered with too much and the small traditional vegetable plot compliments that approach well.
For me the most emotive spot is at his father's grave and I have also blipped that before. Today we had a family photo taken at it, and it is my first extra.
But of course visitors all have different things they want to see and do. Castles were on all their lists, so Culzean was a hit. But Annette takes pictures of post boxes and post offices and this blip is at the very well decorated Alloway Post Office, opposite the cottage .
Annette also got to see a much older box at the harbour in Troon, and one mounted on a cottage in the Main Street of Straiton , causing some interest from the lady inside, who came out to see if she could help.
Bill and Annette are long term very knowledgeable professionals in industrial scale ice cream production so there also had to be a sampling of at least one such Scottish product and a picture of Bill with the advertising board is therefore my second extra photo.
