A Meeting Of Minds

A downy woodpecker worked its way up the trunk, whilst a northern flicker, also a woodpecker, strangely sidled down the same tree. I managed to get them both in the same frame, more by luck than good judgement.

The downy would appear to be a juvenile male, because of the red splotches on its crown, females don't have red crowns, adult males have a full red crown. I think the northern flicker is a female, because it lacks the black moustache of a male near its beak.
