Butterfly summer

All the reports are that this is the best summer for butterflies in an age and my garden is certainly bearing this out.  I think this is a marble white, on the wrong side of the window (it got out again) but I’ve seen so many different varieties.  Meadow browns and red admiral, peacock, brimstone, all the whites, commas and a few tiny blues.  And so many bees particularly on the fluffy centres of my single dahlias.

Quite a busy day with a sore back. I started with a zoom with a director at 9am and then zooms and reading until lunch when I went in and got my tatty nails done.  Back home for another call and some reading and then drinks with my neighbour who is going to let Woody out whilst I gallivant over the weekend.
And all day punctuated with photos from V having a good time in Baku with  Suriya.  A modern low rise city by the sea it is apparently smoggy but not too oppressive despite the heat.

Cooked supper for tomorrow night and watered my pots.  Back is settling down but I am travelling light to London tomorrow.
