Sawing and painting
My Friday was unexpectedly full of work that I didn't know anything about only a few days ago, when the tree fell over my road to the house. I was going to continue sawing the tree into small 30cm pieces that will eventually fit in my stove but before that I have to get a new saw-chain for the chainsaw. The one I used yesterday got blunt cutting through the very hard ash-wood. I had to go into Kalmar again and it took me quite a while to find the right place where they had the saw-chains for that particular brand. I had lunch in town and wasn't back until two o'clock, when I started to work on the tree. It took me a couple of hours to get as much of the tree chopped up so that the road was useable again. The saw became blunt again, so I have to wait before I can get the trunk of the tree cut.
I also talked to the neighbour who will help me fell the other dead tree. There will be a lot of firewood for us, and a lot of work to get it chopped up.
My back is very tired now, I won't do any more wood-working in the near future. What I did do, was to paint the "Door-mirrors" 'Dörrspeglar', as we call them, of the veranda door, in an old kind of yellow. My landlords wife suggested it and I think the colour puts a kind of signature to the house. I've said it before but I think I'm done painting for now.
