Dappled

Maybe this is a new definition for dapple (sort of bad, but mostly good), and maybe it’s not, but it felt like so much that happened today was dappled.
We picked blueberries, but picked only half of our membership allotment, to avoid getting too tired. Eric ticked me off before we headed for the blueberry field, but he apologized, and I got over it, mostly. The berries were great, but not as wonderful as in years past: the bushes were newer, meaning you could easily reach every branch, but there were easily as many unripe as ripe berries. It was slower going, but going slower let you savor the ones you ate, and boy were they sweet.
Back home, after lunch and a rest, the cleaning, sorting, bagging and freezing part made my back ache, so I switched to sitting on a stool, and that helped a lot.
I wish our national backache was as simple.
