Stirling Castle

We are travelling back to Aylesbury in stages. Today we left Aberdeen and lunched at Stirling. A very hilly city with significant history, particularly from a Scottish point of view. There is a statue of William Wallace, who lead the Scots against the English in the war for Scottish independence.

The blip is Stirling Castle. This was one of the most used royal residences, a palace as well as a fortress. It was the site of at least eight sieges including events in the war of independence. A significant building in Scottish history.
