hanging out

That's what we are doing today. It is a travel day, flying back from western NY to Colorado. And we have a late flight out. So we took one last walk along the Oswego Canal trying to put off the inevitable hassle that faces us at the airport. But it sure beats driving for 2-3 days!
The canal is an amazing engineering feat, built in the early 1800s. Boats and barges cross Lake Ontario, enter the Oswego canal, hook up to the Erie Canal, then enter Lake Erie. From there they can take rivers down to the Chesapeake Bay and sail the Intracoastal waterway all the way to Florida without ever having to be in the open water of the Atlantic Ocean. Pretty amazing!
And, as an added bonus, there are beautiful wild flowers along the canal.
