The making of a mural
A brisk walk through town this morning, to see if I could complete some sets of mural images that either needed additions or improvements before sending them off to ArtUK.
I'd thought that this one would be completed by today, but it's a huge piece of work and I can see why it's taking some time. We've also had quite a few wet days recently, which must have slowed the work down.
Anyway, here's Rob Lee at work. He specialises in images that create a 3D illusion on the wall, with great skill. In the main image, I also like the ad hoc way in which the blue cherry picker blends in with the blue in the image. The extra shows a more distant view, with a second piece of work in the foreground, which I think is by the same artist.
This is all in a previously very unloved part of the city centre, which has been the focus of stop-start regeneration efforts for a long time. It is finally coming together now.
Otherwise.... Richard and I continue to open The Guardian each morning to more heartbreaking news from and about Gaza. I know there's been increasing international condemnation of the current ultra right wing Israeli government's continued massacres of Gazan civilians. There have been UK govt statements too. But I find it unbearable that - as I understand it - our government has not stopped supplying arms to Israel. Awful.
