Daisetsuzan National Park
Today we did another long bus ride to the Daisetsuzan NP for some hiking. We took a gondola up to the starting point of a circuit at an altitude of 1600 metres. It was not as cold as expected and a relief from the heat. The trail was unmade and rocky and on a good day hikers can expect spectacular views of the mountains and lakes but alas it was not to be. Instead we saw mist which has its own beauty and forces one to take a macro view of the flowers and butterflies, among other small critters.
The walk, over all too soon, was followed by lunch and a long wait for the bus back. To fill the time we walked around the area, where there was nothing much except a visitors centre and a swish hotel. The latter had a bar which was shut. But back to the outdoors which was teeming with life - that's where we saw the blue common skimmer dragonfly and the tortoiseshell butterfly in my extra.
Thanks for hosting JDO.
