House Martin ( Delichon urbicum )
The early part of the day was fine so we were in the garden a lot. The fledglings in the House Martin nest look almost ready to leave. So I decided to have another go at getting one in flight. I wanted a shot away from the nest. Ones where the bird is so close to the nest that it might as well be hanging on aren't too difficult.
To get the view I wanted I had to have my back to the flight path. So clickychick was sitting where she could see them coming and saying "in coming" when appropriate. With the camera on burst I took a lot of shots. Most of them had no bird on, showing how fast they move. This one appealed to me most. The bird is just beginning to slow its speed ready to land on the nest a split second later.
