Drigg Young Farmers Charity Push
When Clickychick arrived back from church she told me that there was a charity fund raiser due to arrive in the village. So looking for a blip we wandered down into the village. We weren't there for the arrival but fortunately they were having a meal break so we had time to look at the "vehicle". They were pushing/pulling this mock up of the local air ambulance the 77 miles from Drigg on the west cumbrian coast to Langwathby the other side of Penrith raising funds on the way. This was being done in the two day weekend. A brave venture.
There was in my opinion one downer on the event. To get to the centre of the village we need to walk a couple of hundred yards along the main road. At the best of times it is almost impossible for two people to walk abreast on the pavement. There in front of us tight up against the hedge and covering all the pavement was a vehicle with a notice on the top "Traffic Management". By the way there is only a pavement on one side. The real idiocy was the van was parked a few yards past the entrance to the car park where there was lots of room. Yes they had driven past the car park to park on the pavement!
P.S. I read on the internet the mock up weighed 1 tonne.
