TAKING A PEEK
One of the scheduled events at the WeatherTech International Challenge is a Concours d'Elegance for many of the race cars. They leave the track at 18:00 hrs and drive into the Village of Elkhart Lake where the assembled masses get to have a close up look at the cars and talk to the drivers for a scheduled two hours....which often lasts longer.

It's a strong draw for all the local motorheads...and there's plenty of them. The full time human population of the village is under 1000 residents but many thousands of people from all over the area start lining the streets several hours ahead of the start of the parade. If you don't have a position staked out 5 hours before the parade into town, you'll be walking a couple of miles from your parking place to the village. No one has specified the actual number of attendees but it's easily 5 times the village's population.

Have you ever been in a very crowded elevator? It's like that over the whole village. People everywhere and, as always in Sheboygan County, there's plenty of food and beer to be had....for a price, or course. Local groups even have parking places set up in lots and they make some nice change for their programs from those people who do not want to walk 2 miles to see some race cars.

The drivers are very enthusiastic, especially with the children. Many lift them into the driver's seat and let them "drive." I made some wonderful photos of that and the driver's turned some young motorheads into fans for life.

Lots of people with phone cameras...they seem to be everywhere. And they can snap pics of engines, cars and drivers that they admire.
