Margo

I know, the last thing we need after a weekend of fine dining but this was the best that happened today

Breakfast in our room looking out over high tide water, Susannah went swimming first thing but I certainly wasn’t up to that.  We wandered up to the restaurant and Vikram got Pam to sign her book and we got the chance to hear more about the thinking behind it

Set off down to the Dunoon ferry, driving alongside Loch Eck which was glass like,  reflecting the forests that ran along the far side. The crossing over to Gourock was £32 which seems a lot to pay to avoid Loch Lomond.  We parted company with the compadres at a roundabout where we peeled off for petrol and drove on into Glasgow.

Parking was tricky and we left the dog in a side street guarding the car and sped over to Margo which V wanted to try, it’s the sister restaurant to Ox&Finch.  We just had a few delicious small plates and then I got onto the train from Queen St to Edinburgh (I’d stupidly bought a return from Edinburgh…) and went over to Waverley.   Usual chaos there but got on the train I’d earmarked which was then horrendously delayed so I got into London 90 minutes late. I watched Severance on the way done…I have a bit of dread for the finale.  Read the first half of A Long Island Compromise as I felt I needed something a bit funny.

Trains from Waterloo were ok and I caught the slow train home at 9pm.  I was glad I had the foresight to be picked up by Rogate Cars as there were no taxis.

The house felt very empty but I didn’t linger long before bed.
