Damp Day at Dryburgh Abbey
After lunch we decided to give ourselves a break from the delving in cupboards, sheds and outbuildings deciding what stays and what goes, and what to do with it .... there's a long way to go - and tomorrow the family visits begin ..
Dryburgh Abbey, down by the Tweed is a lovely tranquil place, so we set off to walk amongst the ruins. As we approached we could hear beautiful voices singing in harmony, coming from the ruins of the Chapter House. Five choir members from a church in Melrose (and a very vocal terrier, who had to be removed), were enjoying the lovely acoustic, and making the old stones echo. Magical!
And, to top it off, there we met a couple of friends from our days in Yorkshire - up here on holiday.
Then it rained - so we retreated to St Boswells for coffee and a browse at Mainstreet.
I feel a lot better for the break.
