Storms turn out to be damp squibs
We are getting into a certain routine now: I get up and work, so does Mrs. Ottawacker, and in the meantime, Ottawacker Jr. goes out on his bus rides. He’s certainly getting his money out of the reduced fares.
The heat really has been quite oppressive at late, but then out of nothing, there was a major storm warning. We stopped an afternoon jaunt by Ottawacker Jr. out to Navan – with a slight risk of tornadoes and the like, it just isn’t worth the risk. In the end, while impressive, the storm was nothing severe. Just a lot of rain in Ottawa, a few gusts of wind, and a rather feeble thunder and lightning show. All in all, a bit of a damp squib. Grateful for small mercies.
In the evening, once the storm had passed, the sun came out and out we went to Ottawacker Jr.’s goalkeeper practice. The idea was that I’d drop him off, drive home, then Mrs. Ottawacker would drive out to pick him up. In the end, as I was driving back, the storm clouds rolled back in – so I drove straight back there in case of emergency. Again, nothing happened, so instead I stood and watched, chatting to Carlos, one of the players I used to coach way back when.
