Weet From The Chiffchaff

Plenty of welcome rain again today. Seems to have brought the birds out of hiding. I shot a goldfinch and a greenfinch and then heard, Weet, weet coming from disused glasshouse number one. In the spring and early summer chiffchaffs call their name but this time of year they say Weet. The little bird was catching lots of insects and showing off its dark legs.

I heard a helicopter approaching and managed to get a mediocre shot. (Extras) It's a Sikorsky S-76C-2. I've only photographed two Sikorsky 'copters in the past. One was from King Charles' Flight and the other was carrying the President of the United States. I was very interested to discover that the one I captured today had flown from Luton and landed on Osea Island. This island in the River Blackwater in Essex, not that far from my family home, is a luxury resort where Stormzy produced an album and Olly Murs got married. It was put on the market in April for 25 million. The only helicopter that I have flown in was a Sikorsky S-61N. We took our children to the Scilly Isles from Penzance in one in the 70s.
