Taylor Newville!

The opening act of this year’s Cathedral Park Jazz Festival was Taylor Newville and the Riders, and, for sure, we went to see her. She was a talented and dedicated guitarist since before she was ten. She wasn’t in Eric’s classroom, but did play trumpet in his after-school band. It was a real pleasure to see her and to watch her perform. She is really good! Her day job is teaching math and her parents are her roadies. Deborah, her mom, always helped with the after-school band; for years we’d run into her on our walks, and we got to know the whole family. In the Extra, that’s Deborah on the left, in the white hat, when Taylor, on the right, came offstage to play in the audience.
