(198) Tiny Planet

I'm still having fun figuring out the capabilities of the 360 degree camera. This was taken at the swing bridge over the River Esk in Whitby. I had the camera attached to the 'selfie' stick which was wedged in my bike rucksack to give a higher point of view as I rode through the town. The ability to freely reframe the video in post-production, the very effective video stabilisation, and the excellent image quality are all quite incredible. Also, the fact that the software automatically recognises and removes the selfie stick from the footage is very clever. I'm sure, however, that editing the footage will take longer than with conventional cameras, given the number of options available when selecting the field of view to use.
The extra today is a still frame from a 360 degree video capture of a NYMR train passing through Ruswarp earlier in the day, on the route from Whitby to Pickering. With conventional cameras I would have to have panned the camera to keep the locomotive in the centre of the frame but with the 360 camera I can simply choose a place to stand, put the camera on the 'selfie stick and record everything, then choose the viewpoint and angle of view (this is quite heavily cropped from 8K capture) at the time of editing.
