Caka Lake

A day of doing tourist stuff, Chinese style. We caught the slow train from Xining to Caka salt lake which sits at 3,000m on the Tibetan plateau and has mutated from being an important salt production area to a must see holiday spot where you can hire red wellies and paddle in a few inches of salt-water, admire huge salt sculptures and lots of smaller pieces of art set in the lake. And of course the main Chinese holiday activity is taking selfies and girlfriend pictures, posing in front of all the bits and bobs erected just for that purpose! You get about by hopping on and off a train that runs along a spit of land/salt that’s been built out into the lake. Unless you haven’t bought the right tickets, in which case you walk back! Scorchio!
