There's no egrets....
None apart from this one, that is. I had a walk at Cley this afternoon; only a short one from the small car park to the beach and back, but it was good to get some fresh air as I'd been busy all day.
There were a few people about but not many birds to see. I spotted two spoonbills at quite a distance but too far away to get a decent shot of them. Several cormorants were flying over as well as lots of black headed gulls. I heard second hand that someone had spotted a bittern but it had disappeared before my informant tried to see it and it certainly wasn't there for me. There was a family of swans; two parents and three cygnets but they were eating weed and there only seemed to be one of them with its head out of the water at any given time.
I had thought of doing the full circuit of the salt marsh which includes a stretch along the shingle beach but wouldn't have been too bad to walk as the tide was out leaving a strip of sand. However, as soon as I ventured down onto the beach I was surrounded by hordes of tiny black flies so I gave up on the idea and headed back.
