Cycling through Morrow

Sunday
It was a grey overcast morning, but that didn’t matter, since our plan was to watch the Wimbledon Mens final, Sinner vs Alcaraz, which for us started at 11 am. I was rooting for Alcaraz, though not too strongly, and Roger was rooting for Sinner. To me, it seemed that Alcaraz didn’t quite have his A game today, and Sinner deserved his win. Once that was finished, we felt we needed to get out for some exercise, having been sitting for so long, so we headed for the bike trail in South Lebanon. Whilst we had been watching the game, the sun had come out, and I hadn’t realized how much it had heated up. So I only cycled as far as Morrow, shown in my collage, just 10 miles return. My collage shows the bridge over Todd Fork which flows into the Little Miami, and the view from it. The old railway depot has recently been converted into a micro brewery, and nearby stands the old Pennsylvania railroad caboose.
A cup of tea was most welcome when we returned home, and I sat outside on the patio for a while, finishing my book for Book Club tomorrow, James, by Percival Everett, a brilliant re-imagining of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, but told from the point of view of Huckleberry’s friend on his travels, Jim, who is an escaped slave. The novel won the 2024 Kirkus Prize, the National Book award for Fiction, the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for fiction, and appeared on 33 lists of the best books of the year - high honours indeed!
