Pretty Lady Rose

Another scorcher of a day today. I was out watering the back garden tubs in my nightie just after 6.00 am. After breakfast, once I was showered and dressed, I allowed myself a couple of hours’ dressmaking while I was still feeling relatively fresh. All I have to do now is the hem, so I’m feeling very satisfied – I will have made two summer dresses in the space of two weeks.

The rest of the day has been spent dealing with quite a bit of laundry. We have a gathering of the clan on Monday, which is an early 40th birthday celebration for our youngest, The Traveller. This means that the Winchester contingent will be coming up and staying overnight, so the guest bedroom linen, which hadn’t yet been laundered after our last guests were here, has now been washed and ironed ready for Monday. I’ve also made a quiche, which is for our supper tonight and tomorrow’s lunch as well.

By 6.00 pm I was melting from being in close proximity to hot irons and hot ovens, and feeling pretty tired, so Smithers took over and served up supper. This Pretty Lady rose blip was a desperate measure, taken on a quick visit to the garden in the relative cool of the evening.
