Since it’s Silly Saturday I did some silly editing in Brushstroke.

And my saying today is Rome wasn’t built in a day. The silly thing is that the saying didn’t originate in Rome or even Italy but in France;-)

The saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" originated in France during the medieval period. It first appeared in the collection Li Proverbe au Vilain, around 1190, as the French phrase "Rome ne fu(t) pas faite toute en un jour". The English version, "Rome was not built in one day," appeared later in John Heywood's collection of proverbs in 1538. The phrase emphasises that significant achievements require time and sustained effort.
