Turtles All The Way Down

2000 Trees

Rich, Kie & I took today off work to pop to 2000 Trees festival for the day. Rich and Kie used to go quite frequently, but stopped in around 2017 for some reason, and I had never been, so we decided to treat ourselves (minus the palaver of camping, haha!) When we'd bought the tickets, we had no idea it was gonna be a 31°+ heatwave weekend, and I'll admit I was quite worried because, as I have covered quite extensively here, I am bad at the heat...! It was extremely hot (think 'constant sheen of sweat on your entire body' hot) and there was one moment when I genuinely thought I might pass out (sparkly vision and everything), but we took refuge in a tent where a podcast was being recorded while I downed loads of water 'til it passed. Other than that dodgy 20mins, I had a splendid time! We found a lot of shady spaces where we could still hear/see the bands we wanted, and I actually ventured into the crowd for the band I was most interested in; Trash Boat. They were so great live! What was great about the weather was everyone in the crowd was giving each other a rather wide berth, haha! I also very much enjoyed VENUS GRRRLS, the one song I caught by Press Club, the Black Gold set, and the Coheed & Cambria Q&A/acoustic set on the Forest stage. (Unfortunately our original plan to stay mostly in the shade in the Forest stage was thwarted by literally everyone having the same idea..!) We scarpered a little earlier than planned as we were very tired, overheated, and sweaty, but that was actually a great idea because the shower and pizza I had when we got home was perfecto! All in all, a delightful way to spend a Friday!
