River

Oh he is a glorious, soft and friendly cat!

The day was incredibly long and a mix of all of the things that make days weird but lovely!

I originally planned to work at home as I was taking the train up to The North for band rehearsal on Friday night - last time I attempted to do this on Saturday Morning, the train was cancelled, and we had to cancel rehearsal, so it made more sense to travel on Friday when apparently trains do run.

However a meeting with lots of different people could only be done today, so I hauled the guitar and all the gear, and my weekend bag with a few changes of clothes due to the sweat-fest the days were about to become, all across London and into work, and then back across London later in the day to catch my train.

The meeting went well, the day was full of chaos and a fire at one of the buildings we could see from the window, but lots of work got done. It feels like I am not working much on days like these, but I do need to remind myself that talking with people and explaining and training, is also working! I made sure to get out of the office to get some lunch, and picked up a lovely (if slightly expensive) poke bowl.

Travel at the weekend or near the weekend is usually a little chaotic, and today was not an exception. The train had great air-con, but then my seat companion decided to lean on me in the seat which made things a little warmer. By the end of her journey, at the penultimate stop, she had then leant her legs on me sideways too! It was a little odd.

Also odd but definitely what happens, as soon as I sent the message to TazGF that the train was on time, we got stuck behind a slower train and slowed down to be 18 minutes late. Oh dear.

The journey was super well worth it though. Another friend grew up nearby and I didn’t realise how close to the road his old house was. We all had an excellent relaxing evening in the garden, watching flying ants, pondering the gardening, having a succulent Chinese meal and River the cat got an amazing 2-stage glow-up grooming session from both Taz and their wife!

I was so sleepy after a 0440 wake-up and then to bed at 2300ish but it was a lovely wonderful day, around the work busyness, and so glorious to see Taz and their wife and spend time being silly as always.

Lots of good wishes to all who went to Folkie’s thing too, may all your frontispieces be bestowed with greatness.
