Evening On The Canal
Despite the heat, I managed 18 holes of golf this morning, though both Phil & I felt pretty drained by the end of it.
This afternoon our friends Tony & Rosie came round for coffee and cakes and we spent a very pleasant couple of hours chatting in the shade of the apple tree.
This evening we went down to Bridgwater to take Sophie to Sea Cadets, as Kate was supervising at her school Leavers’ Prom.
After we dropped her off we had a walk along the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal, which starts at the docks where the Cadets meet at TS Blake. On the way back we bumped into Sophie and her fellow Cadets, conducting a nature survey along the canal, much to Sophie’s embarrassment! To be honest there were more tin cans and other litter to be surveyed than nature.
We then spent a pleasant hour outside the pub on the docks with our books and a cold drink before going in to watch the Cadets’ closing ceremony, Colours, where flags are lowered with impressive naval tradition and discipline. Sophie loves it.
