Hampton Court
Today I met some friends who had their narrowboat moored on The Thames, right alongside Hampton Court Palace. They have been travelling the country for some months and intended to carry on downstream to moor in Little Venice and Paddington. Unfortunately Clithroe lock, near Brentford, has been closed so they are unable to do this unless they go right through central London which they are not licensed to do. A pilot boat would cost too much money. So for the time being they are shuttling between Sunbury, Shepperton and Hampton Court in the hope that the lock may be repaired fairly soon and allow them to continue. If not they are faced with turning round and retracing their steps back home.
We had a lovely lunch in the Mute Swan and then a wander along the shops in Molesey. Back on board for tea and cake. It was a glorious day and we had so much to catch up on that I forgot to take a photo of their boat - Cariad. However, this is a link to the one I took when I visited them in 2023.
