It's All For Show When The Devil's In The Detail
Today was the usual Sunday food shop followed by our customary pint at The Horseshoes but instead of heading home, and for the second week running, we attended an event at The Friars (our local Carmelite Priory) - on this occasion Kent's All Ford Show.
We've gone for the last few years and always consider the £5.00 entrance fee an absolute bargain to be able to cast our eyes over all that marvellous motoring machinery and automotive alchemy. Being the owner of a 14 year-old Ford Focus with 100,000 miles fast approaching on the clock it also might be one of the last few chances that the dear old girl gets to be near examples of her vehicular brethren's ancestry and lineage.
To make things a bit more challenging I wanted to try to get some more detail of the vehicles on show rather than just straight on depictions. My main image is of one of the cars' windscreens which formed part of a fleet of resplendent Ford Capri's all seemingly in red, white and blue which pleasingly matched the Union Jack bunting strung across this particular example's bonnet, with the little devil hanging from the rear view mirror appearing to emit wisps of smoke (which were actually just the reflections of some passing clouds).
My first extra was shot through the side window of a bright yellow hot rod and I love how it has an almost hallucinogenic feel to it with the glowing hue and the guy in the orange shirt staring rather disconcertingly straight down the lens, with my last extra being of the very stylishly dressed young lady apparently enraptured by the inner workings of a vintage model's internal combustion engine!
By the time we'd made several laps of all that automobile based awesomeness to capture our images the temperature, much like last Sunday, had really started to climb and we were beginning to wilt in the heat so it felt like the right time to head home for a cool drink, which turned out to be a rather fortunate decision as just a few minutes later the skies suddenly darkened considerably and there were huge thundery downpours. We just had to hope that all the car owners and other attendees managed to avoid a serious drenching.
