Wot a plonker! (Backblip)

I woke up yesterday with a bass riff in my head. A gift from my unconscious mind. It wasn’t just bass, it was a bass and drum groove. You could do lots of things over the top that, I thought. I located it on the guitar, and although it was only three notes, E, A and G, it was tricky to play because of the rhythm. I more or less got it and assumed I’d remember it. Today, disaster. I’ve got the notes of course, but I’ve lost the rhythm. Rhythms are much harder to remember than tunes. The only way for me to retain a rhythm is to keep it in my head.
    There is something about the time signature which is not obvious. That’s why it sounded good. If it was obvious, I would get it. I realise that I’m never going to find it on the guitar as all I’m doing is slipping into other rhythms none of which is the right one. I guess I’ll need to hear it in my head again, but it’s like trying to catch a dream.  Maybe one day it will come back to me? It’s all very annoying.
