Beautiful Demoiselle

This wonderfully named Beautiful Demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo) was photographed next to Blackwater near Lyndhurst in the New Forest. This is a female.

I was pleased to get this photograph as I had spent a considerable amount of time attempting to get a decent image of a Southern Hawker dragonfly (Aeshna cyanea) 'on the wing' without any luck whatsoever!
