Ablaze
A neglected plant in a forgotten corner of a bed in the front garden, surrounded by overgrown shrubs. Somehow it's flourished and has put out these glowing blooms. I've completely forgotten what it's called, but was very happy to find it while cutting back some of the shrubs.
It's a deliberately soft-focus shot, trying to get the feel of the humid, sticky weather we've had today. I went for a morning walk with some friends at Longshaw, and then met Eben and Luca from school as usual on a Weds afternoon. Ruth was at home when we got there; while the boys played, she and I had a bit of time to catch up - a rare treat.
Meanwhile, we've gone into heatwave-management mode in the house: front window blinds down to keep out the sun in the morning, windows closed during the daytime. The forecast suggests a possible high of 30 or 31 over the weekend - very unusual for Sheffield, and Richard will absolutely hate it. The house is well-insulated, so we usually manage to keep it reasonably cool. Yorkshire Water will have a hosepipe ban in place from this Friday, the local reservoirs are already at very low levels.
