Leighton House
Back in the day, as they say, we had BBC parties in this extraordinary and beautiful house in Holland Park. I remember a writers’ party where someone got pushed into one of the internal fountains and cascade of drinks flew from a tray. This was a quieter affair, a lovely birthday party with interesting people nibbling canapés and drinking cocktails, or in my case rosé in the evening light.
Early start up in London, dropped Xtoph1 at our brother’s and carried on to the smoke. Meetings all morning and then lunch with a writer who I worked with years ago who has just had a big Netflix hit. Fascinating stories from it. We ate at Blanchette and had both been there once before with the same person.
Back to the office for some calls and then set off to Holland Park for the party, met V there. We got on the 10pm train, which has unaccountably turned into the 9.57 (hey, these things matter) and made it home before too late.
