Development
We’re still trying to determine who might be able to do some work. Like lots of engineering organisations, we have systems that are working well but have no active development on them. One of them needs an update to allow some work to proceed. We have some people available, but several teams are seeking assistance with their projects. Trying to work out who is best to solve this problem has turned out to be more complicated than I thought. Everybody is very precious about their piece of work. This is a fascinating thing to work through.
Adam Przeworski writes a weekly newsletter about what’s happening in American politics. It’s interesting, although it can be a depressing read. This week, one phrase stood out:
Being against something unites, while being for something divides
And I can’t get out of my head how true that is for most things in life, never mind the politics of running a country.
I decided to go and meet PY when he got off the train at Wimbledon Chase so that I could get out into the light. I’m not getting enough steps in, and I’m not getting enough daylight. Unlike the last time I tried this, trains ran on time. Nice golden hour reflecting off the buildings.
We caught up on two more episodes of Race Across the World. Each week I change my mind about who I’d like to win. I’m gradually settling on Caroline & Tom, but they’re all such interesting characters that I find it hard not to change my mind every few minutes. This is really well-done reality television. I must say it every time I mention it, it’s beautifully shot.
