Summer Morning Thoughts
We're getting into July, which is probably the most challenging month of the year for me. I am a girl who loves cold weather and who plays with ice (more frigid weather photography here). When we start to hit July temperatures and humidity, I find it really difficult to keep my cool. I've suffered some hard losses on the hottest days of the year, and such anniversaries are always difficult, so there's that.
One of my strategies on the warmer summer days is to get out and try to do the things I must do, or want to do, early. Even on the hottest days, it's usually shady all the way up Tow Hill until about 10 or 10:30. So on this morning, I took my bike out, and I enjoyed the shade. This is a picture of my bike near the bottom of Tow Hill. It isn't a long ride (or walk) to the top, and then I get to zip down the hill, WHEEEEeeEEeee!
As I was hurtling back down this hill at top speed, the rush of cool, fresh air against my face and body was so invigorating that I started to think happy summer morning thoughts: about how wonderful it is to live in the country, how I could set out on a grand adventure any time I want to, and how the day seemed just chock full of endless possibilities. I wish for you, my friends, such happy summer morning thoughts.
Now for a song. One of the things that motivates me and makes me happy and keeps me going is music, and I bless the day that I found this group. They're called Life in 3D, and they are three siblings - Daylon, Daura, and Devon - who do fantastic, harmony-rich covers of really good songs.
Of late, I've found a new amusement: looking for videos where people who analyze performances watch and critique Life in 3D. The reviewers always get big, fat, sappy smiles on their faces, and then they sort of glaze over, and that's when I understand that is exactly how *I* look when I'm watching them.
I love the way they sing, but I love even more to WATCH them sing together. (And it's okay to read the comments on their videos too. Warning: there is a love-fest going on there!) There is such love and connection among them, and when I watch their videos, I feel like life is good, and everything is going to be all right. They must be protected, at all costs. Here are Life in 3D, with a cover of the John Denver hit, Country Roads.
