Farmers Market Day

We had a pleasant gathering with our coffee buddies and a traditional barbecue meal…hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, potato salad, corn on the cob, green salad and strawberry shortcake! Spike had a fine time doggin’ around their garden and didn’t even seem to notice Jackson, their cat. Jack was certainly aware of Spike but clearly knew how to take care of himself if Spike got cheeky. Jack loves to play with their dog, Trixie so the whole team kept us well entertained….we were home before dark and although I could hear distant fireworks, I couldn’t see any. Spike was oblivious….

We went to the Farmer’s Market this morning but were feeling uninspired. I did get some nice flowers as did Dana. I liked the back of the car as we loaded our stuff into it.

We came home, unloaded our purchases, and did a few chores in the garden before it got too hot out there. Fire season is ramping up and there are already some fires burning in other parts of the state. We’ll be moving to three digit temperatures later in the week.John has a puzzle on the go and I have just started a new quilt project which should keep me busy for a long time at the rate of one square a day….

I just don’t have the energy to comment on the passage of the big ugly bill with thanks to an almost unanimous Republican congressional vote. I can only hope that the whole thing will come back to bite him come midterms after the rank and file realize that they have been abandoned by their representatives. I’m losing sleep over the treatment of anyone suspected of being an immigrant. People with brown skin are being snatched off the streets by masked thugs and imprisoned or deported without due process. Nobody voted for that….
