Happy Resistance Day!

On July fifth Frederick Douglas gave his famous speech in why Independence Day means to slaves and to slavery

I have coined this phrase the day of resistance from fellow blipper DDon and find it very appropriate . To be a patriot is so much more than to wave a flag and blow off fireworks. I believe a patriot means to embrace the true meaning of our Declaration of Independence —-to fully embrace the symbolic meaning of the Statue of Liberty and welcome immigrants who are the backbone of our nation. A strong symbol of freedom, democracy and hope. Not to be trumpites who blindly follow a narcissistic fascist imbecile who leads insurrectionists to defile our nations capitol and who falsely depict immigrants as “ the other” to be deported and denied basic human rights in doing so.

In the words of the late John Lewis,,
“We are one people, one family, the human family”.
