Between fen and mountains

Juicy

The village market was very busy this morning. The schools have broken up for the long summer holiday and there are lots of tourists. The peach and apricot stall had a long queue. It is the height of the season and the fruit is succulent and juicy. It is difficult to eat a peach without the juice drifting off your chin. Many people were buying trays of fruit to make jam or to freeze. I had to go back to our friends’ house in the next valley as Mrs T T had forgotten her handbag last night. I had coffee and another chat with them. I went on to church to do some printing. Having had a late night last night. I had a nap after lunch and, as a storm broke, I enjoyed a welcome drop in the temperature in the veranda.
