Tiger Lilies

Hubby beckoned me downstairs to make Momma’s breakfast this morning. She is an early riser. She had raisin bread, coffee and fresh fruit. She has been inside most of the time in recent years so I decided to take her out in the fresh air and try to make a habit of it. We took a walk around the house, checking out the flower gardens. I had to fence up my tiger lilies. The deer usually eat off all the buds. Not this year! But I have to loosen the fencing because the blooms are tight up against it. Momma decided she’d like to sit on the front porch and enjoy the birds, gardenia and my other flowers. We stayed out most of the morning. Then I took her out to look at my vegetable garden. A squash hid from me - I found it today, over 13 inches and the outer skin is as hard as a rock. Hubby mowed and trimmed the lawn. Sky and Mack had said they’d visit today again. I made beef and Italian sausage spaghetti, salad and peas with Italian breadsticks for lunch. Sky received a call asking if she would cover someone’s shift this afternoon so they left right after lunch. Hubby went shopping and I cleaned the kitchen. Just as we were about to nap, Mancil, Madi and Brooklyn stopped by. They brought the rest of my birthday gift and pancit - yum. Brooklyn is going to make us a coconut cake. I was bidding in an on line cake auction and forgot to check my bids this morning. It ended at noon; I missed two cakes by $5 each. Oh well, I can’t do it all. We are ready for naps again. My sister is on the way; they should be here in 30 minutes. My children and grands have not seen Momma for months. Same for some other relatives. I predict it will be like Grand Central Station here for a while. Gone are the days of total quiet for hours. Wishing you a little quiet evening. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. I will catch up when life settles down. “I like not lady-slippers, Nor yet the sweet-pea blossoms, Nor yet the flaky roses, Red or white as snow; I like the chaliced lilies, The heavy Eastern lilies, The gorgeous tiger-lilies, That in our garden grow.” - Thomas Bailey Aldrich
