Scaup splashes
A cooler morning than we've been having and the weatherman told us why this evening........ -4 degrees overnight! Still, an absolutely stunning day with not a cloud in the sky (which suggests that tonight may be even colder!). Opted for a bit of scaup watching mid-morning with my new favourite ducks........a whole bunch of them on the canal right outside my van door. Such wee cuties. Funnily enough I'd said to D earlier in the morning (a member of Nelson Camera Club and who is also down here with hubby K hoping for a glorious winter display) that I'd love to capture a duck running across the water. How wonderful that the Universe delivered and the very first images I took were of a duck doing exactly that! Thank you, thank you, thank you :) This is another one I captured later so felt very fortunate to have been able to capture 2 lots of (variable quality!) images. There's also a scaup coming in to land in extras - I think I'm becoming infatuated! Later in the afternoon after D & K returned from their explorations I took them down to Ohau C just so they knew where it was. Another glorious time in cloudless skies with virtually no-one else around and Mother Nature at her very best. We're thinking we might stay down there tomorrow night if the weather's looking good.
