Half year finished

So....the last day of the first half of the year. To me, the calendar year always seems a little unbalanced, as now we generally hope for a quieter couple of months. I guess that goes for those still working, and for those whose rhythm works to the academic year or the school year.

I started the day briefly in the Tain garden, where it was remarkably warm and humid at 6am. Today, I drove the car back to Edinburgh, as we need it here next week a couple of times, although it was probably not strictly necessary. I left the car at home, and headed back into Edinburgh for a few meetings at the RSE, before spending a bit more time at home, including doing a peloton workout.

As evidence of there being "down time" in July, family is converging on Scotland. My nieces are in Scotland, according to instagram and will reach the north at the end of the week. My sister and W have just arrived in Scotland. L&L + EAJS will arrive on Monday. Not everyone will be in the same place at the same time, and I will miss the nieces, but there will be a set of overlapping encounters over the two weeks or so.

The evening was spent at RB13's new flat with book group. Despite the problems with the kitchen, Ridgeback had managed to produce an incredible spread (would one ever doubt her?). The flat is just perfect for entertaining.
