New Week

This week is bitter sweet. Its Little Man's last week at nursery. He's missing the last two weeks due to our going to the United Kingdom next Monday¹. Since Little Man is under five, I'm allowed to take him out of school without being fined for doing so. I dropped him off this morning, and then biked to the supermarket in Waarder to stock up on ice lollies.

I came home and got started on the packing and the boxes in my bedroom. I wanted to get a start on both but got distracted my parents. They needed our passport details to book the ferry. We have my cousin's wedding in England at the end of August², and we wanted to get that booked as its the August Bank Holiday weekend and we're expecting that it might be tricky to book if we waited. I also booked the outward journey for Little Man and myself as my parents are going over to England a few days earlier to see some friends.

I then collected Little Man and we went straight round to Marije's for lunch. She invited us over, to give the boys the chance to play in the paddling pool together and have bite to eat together. It was lovely. Then we came home and have spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing together. I've put dinner on earlier than I normally would, to give it a chance to cool down before we eat.

Like the rest of Europe, we're having a heat wave, today's high has been 30⁰C (86⁰F) and tomorrow is forecast to be even hotter. I know that other parts of the world will say that this isn't extreme, however, houses in Europe aren't designed for staying cool, they're designed to keep the heat in, and we also don't have air-conditioning, so it's tricky to stay cool. I'm glad we have some ice lollies in the freezer, they're a life saver!

When I went to the supermarket, I saw this Monster can, with Lando Norris' design on it and had to buy it,  to give it a try (I also needed the caffeine). I'd say that I'm a Lando Norris fan.
