Last day of June. 7:30 am. 21C.
Morning glory!
I’m sitting at the patio table under the big parasol, with a mug of tea. I love it out here.
It was difficult to sleep last night in the unaccustomed heat, even with the bedroom windows wide open. Some welcome coolness crept in around 5:00am.
It is set to become one of the hottest June days on record. We are becoming quite Continental these days closing curtains and windows against the heat as the day wears on. The only difference being we have no lovely heavy wooden shutters.
All the roses are looking so beautiful in the sunshine just now. But the Cardoon I planted last year has grown enormous and its leaves are covering some of the plants. I took a photo to show how tall it is and how the leaves have spread out. (Photo in extra.especially for blipper keibr who has just planted some!) Sadly I need to either move it in the Autumn, or take it out altogether.
It was becoming daylight around 3:15am.
The folk at Glastonbury will have had the hottest and driest one this year! And Wimbledon begins today with a predicted temperature in London of 33C.
It is time for breakfast and as I was writing this a dragonfly has just flown past and over the hedge to next door. They have a small pond.
Hope you all have a good Monday, the last one of June.
