Buzzard Watch - Update

I have not been blipping the (hundred or so) pictures of the buzzard nest.  Mainly because they are pretty much all the same.  So this is an update.  The extras are back-pictures over the period since May of the first chick visible.  Not sure at the time whether there was only one.  The pics of the second chick, when I spotted it were not great.  Nonetheless, I was worried that younger sibling might be lunch for the older.  I didn’t see it for a while, so feared the worst.  Family came, visited and distracted me from my Buzzard walks.  When I went back, it was clear there were not only two, but that they were healthy and being fed by Mum & Dad.  One of the extras is of Dad at the top of the tree guarding the chicks as a Jay tries to bomb him and get him to move. Another jay was nearby to get at the chicks if Dad had gone. He didn’t. I know it was Dad because Mum always went into the nest to cover the chicks and feed them.  Only when she was hunting did he provide “top cover”.  As you will see, the chicks were soon big enough to be left alone. It was obvious they were not hatched on the same day; the size and plumage was different.  The main pic is of the older one “branching”, while the younger one is still in the nest.  I expect a fledging at some point.
