Country roads...
We were so full of plans to get things done today but the weather was so lovely that after lunch we decided to take a drive and see where the road took us. Alan and Blake had already gone out so we got Lola into the car and headed off in the direction of Dunning.
On the way to Dunning we formulated a plan to drive through Dunning Glen to Yetts O' Muckart on the other side of the Ochil Hills, drive back along the Hillfoots to Bridge of Allan, then stop at M&S Food Hall at Dunblane to pick up a couple of items, before heading home in time for D helping to get Alan into the pool. Predictably we went a little awry! :-)
Instead of taking the correct road out of Dunning, we took the wrong road (Dunning is a tiny village that we know well. You would think we'd have gotten it right!) and ended up on the country road to Milnathort. We've made that mistake before! No worries, it's a beautiful drive and affords me this wonderful vantage point of Strathearn Valley (Dunning and the tower of St Serf's Church can be seen below the tree on the left of this shot). I've blipped from here before but in a different season.
We carried on, enjoying the scenery and did eventually come to Yetts O' Muckart but we didn't have enough time to take the longer route via Dunblane, and instead headed back via Dunning Glen, the road we should have been on in the first place! Thankfully got back in time for Alan's swim with a minute to spare :-)
Dinner was Chicken Provençal. Don't think I've ever made that before but I will again. It was lovely. Also made celeriac mash but that was just me being organised as we're not having that till tomorrow evening.
And now the garden tubs have been watered, D has his golf stuff and I have my painting materials organised for tomorrow so we can continue watching Why Women Kill that we started last night. Fabulous :-)
Some more pics of our drive in extras.
