Eight-spotted Forester moth

...or so says my iPhone ID. You can see all eight, more or less, in the extra. Daniel spotted (ha) it on the storm door pane, where it stayed preening itself for a good long while. Apparently it was once native to Canada, and its range now extends down into the eastern and central US. It likes fields near woodlands, so that's us.

Thunderstorms last night, hope they pass through again later today though the chance isn't as high. Although if they don't, perhaps I can persuade D. to take his mom out for ice cream.
