Home again early afternoon. 30C!
It was hot when we left Taunton after a welcome overnight stay. And it remained a constant 28/29C all the way back up the M5 and M42. Thankful for aircon in the car. Traffic was free flowing. We had some lunch at Gloucester Services North and bumped into a really good friend of ours who was with his parents and sister.
His mum had dad had just celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary, when they were all on holiday in Brixham this past week! . I gave them all a big hug! His dad is amazing for 94 years old! Striding out in his shorts and tee shirt when they were going to the car. His mum needs a wheelchair these days. Our other good friend Thierry had been with them too, but had left earlier to drive home.
Our journey yesterday was longer than we expected so we were glad we were having an overnight stop.
Having had our first stop, at Cornish services, I had an alert via my Google maps App which said the A30 northbound, which goes all the way to Exeter, skirting round Dartmoor, had been totally closed due to two accidents. Fortunately as we approached the tail back of traffic there was a junction where we could go off, then over a bridge and back down the other side to join the A30 southbound.
The reason we did this meant we could then join the A38 which went all the way to Exeter via Plymouth and the great suspension bridge over the River Tamar which marks the boundary between Cornwall and Devon.
We had lunch in a quaint pub in a sleepy village having seen a sign for it en route.
The views from the very high bridge over the Tamar Estuary are great, but difficult to capture from even a slow moving car.
Our good friend Duncan had watered the garden a couple of times whilst we were away, and the pots too. He had left us some Sweet Williams which he had grown on his allotment, being a keen gardener. His home garden is always filled with colour in the summer months.
The garden is looking fine.
I’ve already been out there and deadheaded the roses which needed it.!
Otherwise it has withstood the heat quite well.
Now time for me to go and do some unpacking..Stephen is making a quick trip to Sainsbury’s!
I am as good at putting off unpacking as I am with packing!
I might have time to look at blips later but will just be leaving stars.
PS Thankyou to those who are congratulating me on my 7 years on blip! Some of you may remember I accidentally thought it was in May! Here’s the link!
